MY-THERAPY-SUITE vs CAREPATRON

A UK mental-health alternative to Carepatron

Carepatron is a global healthcare platform serving clinicians and non-clinicians side by side: counsellors, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, coaches and many others. My-Therapy-Suite is built only for UK counsellors and psychotherapists in private practice, by a husband-and-wife team with one of them in the clinic every week.

01

Built for UK private practice, not a global wellness audience.

Carepatron is built to serve everyone in healthcare: counsellors, nurses, coaches, dietitians, chiropractors all on the same product. The free plan draws people into that breadth, with paid tiers unlocking unlimited storage and group-practice features. My-Therapy-Suite owns the UK talk-therapy workflow completely. Every screen, every routine outcome measure shipped by default (20+ with auto-scoring, including PHQ-9 and GAD-7), and every supervision workflow is shaped around UK counsellors and psychotherapists in private practice. That focus is the product, not a footnote about it.

02

A dashboard built for one kind of practitioner, not forty.

Carepatron has to be useful to a counsellor and a chiropractor, a dietitian and a coach. That generality has a cost: a workspace that cannot decide what to surface for you, because it does not know which kind of practitioner you are. My-Therapy-Suite was built fresh in 2026 for one practitioner. Log in and you are greeted by name with today's diary alongside the tasks that need you this week, the four shortcuts you use most often, and your key trends from the month at a glance. Subtle visual cues across your diary show what is billed, what has a note linked, what is still open.

03

UK by default, not "aligned with" UK requirements.

Carepatron hosts on global cloud infrastructure with no UK datacentre default. Their compliance language is that infrastructure is "aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA". With My-Therapy-Suite there is no region to choose. Your records sit on UK infrastructure under UK GDPR, and the ICO is the regulator we both answer to.

04

Husband-and-wife team, one of them in the clinic every week.

Carepatron was founded in 2021 by co-founders Jamie Frew and David Pene, scaling to a global audience with a generous free tier. My-Therapy-Suite is built by Inés Olivares Carretero, a practising UK therapist, and her husband Brecht Nys, who designed and built the platform. When you email about a missing feature, one of them reads it. Direct access to the people building your software is a structural advantage of a smaller, focused product.

REASON 01

Designed for talk therapy, not for a global healthcare audience.

Carepatron's growth model is breadth. Founded in 2021, it built a global following on a free-forever tier that puts counsellors and coaches in the same product. The free plan is the funnel; the paid tiers are where you end up. The strategy works for them.

My-Therapy-Suite was built for one thing. Every screen, every routine outcome measure shipped by default (20+ with auto-scoring, including PHQ-9 and GAD-7), every supervision workflow exists because a UK counsellor or psychotherapist needs it for their private practice. The vocabulary on every screen matches BACP, UKCP, HCPC and BPS. Nothing in the platform is there because someone in another discipline needed it.

My-Therapy-Suite is built for one job: running a UK mental-health private practice. Every feature has to earn its place against that job.

REASON 02

A dashboard built for one kind of practitioner, not forty.

Carepatron has to be useful to a counsellor and a chiropractor, a dietitian and a coach. That generality has a cost: a workspace that cannot decide what to surface for you, because it does not know which kind of practitioner you are. The product stores what happens and lets you go find it.

Reminders that need you appear once. Workflows complete themselves where they can.

It is a difference therapists tend to feel in the first five seconds of trial.

A dashboard that knows what kind of practitioner you are can decide what to surface, so you don't have to.

REASON 03

UK by default, not UK as a compliance footnote.

Carepatron serves a global audience and their public language reflects that. Infrastructure runs on global cloud providers, and their help-centre describes data hosting regions as "aligned with applicable local requirements". The compliance posture is summarised as "aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA". For a UK therapist who needs a short answer to "where does my client data live?", that is not the answer.

My-Therapy-Suite has only one region. Your records sit on UK infrastructure under UK GDPR. The ICO is the regulator we both answer to. Vocabulary on every screen matches BACP, UKCP, HCPC and BPS rather than HIPAA terminology.

The full sub-processor list, what data each receives, and where it lives is on our Security and data page.

Trust questions about where your client data sits should have a one-sentence answer. Ours is one sentence.

REASON 04

Built by people you can reach.

Carepatron was founded in 2021 by co-founders Jamie Frew and David Pene, scaling to a global audience with a generous free tier. They have built quickly and credibly.

My-Therapy-Suite is built by Inés Olivares Carretero, a practising UK therapist, and her husband Brecht Nys, who spent a decade leading digital product development in international banking before building My-Therapy-Suite with her. Inés sees clients every week, and every feature and flow passes through her own practice before it ships. Brecht designs, builds and ships it. When you email about a missing feature, one of them reads it.

Direct access to the team building your software is a structural advantage of a smaller, focused product. Whether it outweighs install-base scale is your call.

When you email about a missing feature, Inés or Brecht reads it.

When Carepatron is the better fit for you

Carepatron is a global platform serving a deliberately broad audience. Two buyer profiles where Carepatron is genuinely the better choice for the practice in question:

You run a non-clinical or mixed practice.

If your work combines coaching, nursing, dietetics or other non-clinical disciplines with talk therapy, Carepatron explicitly serves those audiences on the same product. My-Therapy-Suite is built only for UK mental-health practice. If half your week is coaching, Carepatron's broader audience is the right shape for that workflow.

You bill US payers or work across multiple countries.

Carepatron supports US insurance billing (CMS-1500 claim forms, superbills), offers e-prescribe as a separate paid add-on, and hosts on global cloud infrastructure across multiple regions. My-Therapy-Suite is UK only and does not. If your practice crosses jurisdictions or US-payer work is part of it, Carepatron fits that better.

Switching from Carepatron

Most therapists are taking new bookings on My-Therapy-Suite within an afternoon of starting their trial. Here is how a switch from Carepatron usually runs:

  1. 1Start your My-Therapy-Suite free trial. No credit card required.
  2. 2Set up your practice. Add your details, import existing clients if you have them, set your availability.
  3. 3Connect your calendar (Google or Microsoft). Two-way sync starts immediately.
  4. 4Focus on clients. Reminders, invoicing, documentation. It all happens. You just do what you do best.

Questions UK therapists ask

Is Carepatron a good fit for UK therapists?

It can be, and Carepatron has UK users. Carepatron is a credible global platform with a generous free tier. But Carepatron is built for a deliberately broad audience that mixes clinicians and non-clinicians (counsellors alongside coaches and nurses), with US-payer insurance prep and no UK data residency default. Their mental-health-specific tooling is part of a much wider feature set. If your practice is purely UK talk therapy, you will get more from a tool designed only for that.

How does pricing compare?

My-Therapy-Suite starts at £19 per clinician per month billed annually (£24 monthly), VAT and AI included, with volume discounts as the team grows.

Carepatron starts at £0 for the Free tier (1GB storage, AI scribe included), with Plus at £23 per user per month and Advanced at £29, currently 50% off for the first six months. Verified on Carepatron's pricing page on 27-May-2026.

Where is my client data stored with each platform?

My-Therapy-Suite stores all client data on UK infrastructure under UK GDPR, with the ICO as the regulator.

Carepatron hosts on global cloud infrastructure. Their public help-centre describes data hosting regions as "aligned with applicable local requirements" and their compliance posture as "aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA" without a UK datacentre default surfaced. Verified on Carepatron's GDPR help article on 23-May-2026.

Does either platform ship routine outcome measures out of the box?

My-Therapy-Suite ships 20+ validated routine outcome measures with auto-scoring built in, including PHQ-9 and GAD-7. You send them to a client through their portal, the client completes them at home, the scores land on their record automatically.

Carepatron provides a form builder and template library across many disciplines, but pre-built clinically-validated mental-health instruments are not surfaced as defaults; you build PHQ-9, GAD-7 and similar from the form builder.

What about group practices, supervision and access controls?

My-Therapy-Suite supports group practice with granular per-resource access controls, supervision workflows where a supervisor can see a supervisee's caseload under defined permissions, and a team-member portal for receptionists and finance staff who do not need full clinical access. Supervisor is a distinct role with its own model.

Carepatron offers customisable per-user permissions on the Advanced tier rather than fixed roles, so a supervisor concept can be built by editing the team-member's permission tab and assigning clients. There is no named Supervisor role tier as a distinct concept for trainee oversight.
